Crowns are most often made of porcelain,and differ from
Veneers in that they fully cup over the portion of a tooth
that is exposed at the gum line. Because crowns encase the
entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect
becomes the tooth's new outer surface. Dental crowns are most
often used for teeth that have broken, are excessively worn
down, or have had large portions destroyed by tooth decay.
Crowns are used for both General and Cosmetic dental purposes.
